WHY?
Why Should Cannabis Be Re-Legalized? Why Is It Illegal? Don't take my word for it - research this information for yourself.
1) Cannabis really is non-toxic. Not one person has ever lethally overdosed on THC, the main psychoactive compound found mostly in the flowers of the plant. I am even unable to find a case where pure cannabis has physically harmed any part of the body - including the mind. Do you know of one? Please tell me at mmelz5@yahoo.com (Please copy and paste), thanks.
For people who think, "Our government knows best", did you know that our government has never even conducted any studies prior to criminalizing "marihuana" and other illegal drugs? Yep - they just heard some horror stories, got scared, and had their vote. That's it. Then people learned how to profit from all the fear, and it continues to this day. If you can find proof that this claim is false, say, a pre-1937 study on Cannabis Sativa, please lead me to that information.
2) Cannabis isn't nearly as addictive as cigarettes and is MUCH safer than alcohol. Law consistency is crucial in order to have a responsible, freedom-based society, don't you think? Please stay politically involved in order to keep our laws consistent.
3) During use, pot can, but doesn't always, alter short-term memory and concentration, much like cold medicine can. Yes, cannabis can make one foggy-headed, especially during the first 15-30 minutes or so, so be aware (If you hate this foggy feeling, avoid Vicks Dayquil - it gave me the worst case of sluggishness I've ever experienced!). After the "fog," a person is generally left with a pleasantly relaxed feeling for a few hours or so. This feeling does not justify arrest, fines, child custody loss, or loss of property.
Now, stop and think about that for a moment: Think about the humiliation of having your house torn up and your family members rudely and roughly treated by our police in a search for cannabis leaves and flowers (Legal vandalism and terrorism, paid for by us)(And unscrupulous cops have no problem with pocketing anything in your house they want, like cash, jewelry, stuff ROBBERS take). If there are dogs in the house, those beloved pets will be shot dead - even as they try to run away. Think about having your children taken away from you as you are charged with child endangerment (Legal kidnapping, paid for by us). Think about being put into a police car knowing you'll have to pay thousands in fines and legal fees (Legal robbery) for a criminal record (Legal discrimination), and you were honestly doing no harm to no one. Now who's gonna care - you've been labeled a DRUGGIE - people automatically think that your kids are better off without you and that you're getting what you deserve. It happens hundreds of times a day across this very country to very real people who are not looking for trouble, just a safe form of relief.
If, "Well, you shouldn't have broken the law," is your first thought, this is my response: I cannot tolerate a person going to prison for simply breaking a drug law any more than I could tolerate a person going to prison for simply breaking a traffic law. We tolerate these extreme actions because we have been told all our lives by the ones we thought we could trust that "marijuana will make people crazy and dangerous." We've been lied to again and again, and so we've come to believe it whole-heartedly as truth. This is a "normal and effective" abuse of power (Or "power of abuse", as Libertarians say). It's so normal, consider this: Before I studied the war on drugs, I called the police on two houses where I thought drugs were going on. When I did it, I thought I was doing a GOOD thing. This mental conditioning is just what the Nazis used to round up the Jews: "If you're a GOOD German, you'll tell us where they are." Do you think I'm lying? Study Nazi Germany and see for yourself. It wasn't that long ago, either. Abuse of power is way normal, and that's why our Constitution was written - to keep too much power out of the hands of those "in charge".
It's our job to stay educated and involved, or our Constitution means nothing.
4) To be perfectly fair, I have seen studies saying the use of cannabis could aggravate certain types of existing psychosis. I can see that - it can cause people to think of things in a different way, and that can be scary at first, especially to the unstable mind. If cannabis were better regulated than it is now, we would not use breeds of plants that are unbalanced - that is, they would have cannabinoid ratios that could be tolerated by anyone. We would also enjoy more honest education, which is badly needed more than anything right now.
I've also seen studies saying cannabis helps people with certain psychosis, and that these people sensibly continued to self-medicate, since it's so easy to get, Thank God. If it were legal, people could know the perfect dosage for their particular illnesses under the supervision of a doctor using the safest delivery method possible, further enhancing quality of life and productiveness for those who would benefit.
It is not for everyone, and no, it's not completely harmless in every situation, but "harmless" is still the best word I can find to describe it.
5) About $23,000,000 are spent EVERY DAY enforcing cannabis laws. Over 2,000 Americans are arrested EVERY DAY for possession of pot. Despite these numbers, weed is literally EVERYWHERE.
Prohibition does not work, which is why alcohol was relegalized in 1933. They realized the crime and violence that went with Prohibition were more harmful than the alcohol itself. Let us be as wise and take this business AWAY from the criminals, because drug dealers don't ask for I.D. and minors actually do a lot of selling in this ultra-profitable business! I've seen it with my own eyes.
6) It sounds bad, but when cannabis becomes legal and cheap, kids will still get it like they do beer and cigarettes today, but the difference will be cannabis street sales will disappear (Does anyone sell alcohol or tobacco on the streets these days? Let me know: Please copy & paste: mmelz5@yahoo.com, thanks!) and at least hundreds of kids each day will stop having to watch an authoritative figure harass and humiliate their parents and/or other family members during the raid/arrest process. Harmless people will stop being locked up for decades while their kids get passed around other relatives (Especially tired grandparents) or foster homes, some of which have been abusive with these totally innocent children. How does this help the very thing the drug war says it protects - the families?! No, I think it's total power-tripping by the folks who have the power to take your kids from you. One would think that a professional agency such as the Child Protection Services would know more than anyone that removing children from their families harms the children VERY much, so that would be considered a last resort, not Standard Operating Procedure for drug-law violators. Kids NEED stability 2 B as :) as they can B. Then we'll have less trouble from them later in life, know what I mean? Personally, I think we should begin assigning live-in counselors to abuse/neglect cases, to help the families learn to function and become strong, healthy and happy. And I think the CHURCHES ought to be the ones doing it, in the name of Love.
7) I hate to be graphic, but too many of our young people are taken to jail on drug charges and then treated rudely, brutally handled, beaten and/or raped. Sometimes killed. Remember - just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not happening. Power tripping and sadism ARE REAL, especially when accountability is low and peer pressure is high (I really wish our police and prison guards were paid more and better trained for human relations, since it IS such a large part of their jobs. I wish they acted like true professionals, and some of them do, God bless 'em, it's tough). Honestly, you would be shocked to learn what happens to some people when certain police, guards and/or inmates get a hold of them. Bad Guys "get high" off being mean to others and every time they "take a hit of their drug," SOMEONE gets hurt! How about treating THAT addiction?? Adrenaline junkies. God help 'em.
Even if inmates aren't harmed by anyone, they can get lessons in committing serious crimes as they sit around and scheme with other inmates, paid for by us. And even if nothing happens, that person and his/her family have been legally robbed, a criminal record is now with them forever (Or until the laws are changed, hint hint!), maybe they've even lost their driver's license and/or the right to vote, and they've experienced government-induced emotional torment that no person in a freedom-based country should have to deal with when there is no charge-pressing victim involved. Bad laws must be abolished to keep good people safe, and the prison system needs a total overhaul.
8) Cannabis has medical value, or there would be no such thing as the prescription drug Marinol®, which is synthetic THC. Both are used to ease nausea, pain and other discomforts. Marinol takes more than an hour for the person to feel relief (Compared to less than 3 minutes with smoked or vaporized cannabis), and has a tendency to get the person too high, since it must be metabolized through the liver (Compared to taking a few tokes, feeling enough relief, then stopping). Marinol is also very expensive and filled with man-made things, whereas cannabis, when legal, would only cost what any plant would cost to grow and it's simply a dried flower.
And now, GW Pharmaceuticals (The link is on the front page) has developed Sativex, an under-the-tongue spray using real, isolated THC and cannabinoids mainly developed to decrease painful spasms in Multiple Sclerosis patients. It is literally liquid cannabis, just way more expensive. And guess what else?? Canada approved Sativex to be sold by the company Bayer, proving once and for all that God's gift to us, Cannabis Sativa, does indeed have medical benefits, imagine that!
9) Consider this contribution from a supporter: "Marijuana already *is* legal under current U.S. law. The Constitution is the highest law of the land, and there is no constitutional authorization for a war on drugs. When they prohibited alcohol, in 1919, they had to pass a constitutional amendment first, which was later repealed in 1933, for good reason. There has never been any similar amendment allowing government to ban marijuana, ecstasy, magic mushrooms, or any other 'prohibited' substance."
The Controlled Substance Act of 1970, which classifies cannabis as a dangerous narcotic with no medical value, is said to be constitutional, but that's really about as constitutional as this eminent domain (house/land stealing) crap they're trying to pull! Don't let those "supreme judges" *bulldoze* us like that - STUDY THE CONSTITUTION AND KEEP WRITING TO CONGRESS, no matter how useless it FEELS. Silence = acceptance.
All our elected officials took an oath to defend the Constitution when they took office.
Make Them Stand Up To That Oath.
10) "The federal government, by imposing a Prohibition based on biased, inadequate studies, is depriving the American people of a safe and effective medicine." --Tom O'Connell, MD.
11) Cannabis has been used for thousands of years as a Religious Sacrament, so denying people of their Freedom of Religion is a direct violation of the First Amendment. This is as serious to them as having wine for Communion is to Christians, and no one here has the right to punish them for practicing their peaceful religions. I can testify that I've had some wonderful prayer sessions with cannabis, and it really helps some people try to be as gentle and nice as Jesus wants us to be, something I wish more Christians tried to do.
12) The Gateway Theory and Amotivational Syndrome associated with cannabis use have been proven false by the Institute of Medicines 1999 book, Marijuana and Medicine. (See it at www.nap.edu - Please copy & paste) If the gateway theory were so true, there would be an enormous problem with hard drugs since millions of people smoke cannabis every day. For most people, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol are the first drugs they try, so if anything were to be called gateway drugs, it would be these three. And still, most people never go beyond alcohol, and polls show that most wouldn't try illegal drugs even if they were legal.
I and many others believe that it is the personality and upbringing of the person that will determine if the person will try other drugs. Many people take hard drugs to try to kill the pain of a neglectful/abusive childhood, so parents, love those baby humans and help them become good, strong, happy people! Hitting out of anger IS assault on another person, and saying hateful things IS mentally painful! Being syrupy-sweet all the time and not following through on discipline will create a monster, too - the spoiled brat. I've found that fairness, honesty (I do not lie to my child - even to get him to do what I want - and he does trust me and listens to what I say -- MOST of the time), and consistency mixed with proud, positive reinforcement works wonderfully. Plus, loving kindness with teaching right after fair and clear discipline. And I apologize to him if I do something wrong, just as I would tell him to apologize if he did something wrong. Thank you, you hard-working parents out there for raising independent, decent kids! Our country will become stronger and happier because of it!
And for those of you suffering from tormenting memories, remember that God will ALWAYS love you and will NEVER leave you - just ask Him to guide you, then trust Him. I did, and I couldn't be happier - Yee-HAAA! God wants us all to enjoy life in ways that don't hurt others.
13) Lies used to keep cannabis illegal will only sabotage any attempt to warn of homemade methamphetamine, which is truly harmful to the user, community and environment. Remember the story, The Boy Who Cried Wolf? Lies will always come back to get you. Being honest might be H-A-R-D at times, but things are ALWAYS much better AND easier later on if you are honest - I guarantee!! You WILL feel the trust, eventually, and it feels GOOOD!
14) Prohibition always strengthens the black market, which CREATES crime and corruption. It also eliminates legitimate competition for certain businesses such as the liquor and pharmaceutical industries. The bad guys dont want it legalized - theyd lose too much money! American Lives for money, what a shame.
Thank God we can do something about it, like telling our leaders that if they continue to ignore the truth, we will not be voting for them again. I mean, if a leader in this country actually believes that cannabis should be illegal and pours our money into funding anti-marijuana laws and ads, they are flat out wrong, without a doubt. What ELSE are they toying around with that they know nothing about?
Their support of cannabis laws can be used as a litmus test for if they really know/care anything about reality. Sooo, this should make voting easier:
A) Keep studying our Constitution. Here it is: www.law.emory.edu/FEDERAL/usconst.html (Please copy & paste)
B) LOOK at senator's/representative's voting records. This seems to be a good start: www.vote-smart.org/index.htm (Please copy & paste - I really wish I had those in-text links you could click.)
C) If you know they voted unconstitutionally, do NOT support them with your vote, no matter HOW they justified their vote, and no matter how bad the other guy is.
D) Tell them why you did/did not vote for them.
E) Keep a close eye on whoever is voted into office - do not trust them to handle it all themselves, and write to them often: usgovinfo.about.com/library/weekly/aa020199.htm
Keep this cycle going, and we WILL see changes over time. Do nothing, and expect nothing but more lies and stealing.
So Why Is Cannabis Illegal?
Cannabis was made illegal nationwide in 1937, mainly to help control Mexicans and Blacks during The Great Depression (This was even shown on The History Channel during a series called, Hooked: Illegal Drugs And How They Got That Way). Terrifying stories of weed turning people into crazed, unstoppable monsters were made up and used as scare tactics to promote its prohibition, and good stories could pass laws during this frightening time in history - just look at these quotes:
"Marihuana influences Negroes to look at white people in the eye, step on white men's shadows and look at a white woman twice."
--(Hearst newspapers nationwide, 1934)
"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S., and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana can cause white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others."
--US Government Propaganda To Outlaw Marijuana
"The primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races."
--US Government Propaganda To Outlaw Marijuana
"Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality and death."
--US Government Propaganda To Outlaw Marijuana
"Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind."
--US Government Propaganda To Outlaw Marijuana
"[Smoking] one [marihuana] cigarette might develop a homicidal mania, probably to kill his brother."
--US Government Propaganda To Outlaw Marijuana
Also, growing corporations saw the very useful hemp plant as a threatening competitor, so they took advantage of its relationship to smokable cannabis to have the hemp plant made illegal along with it. Please see the book, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" by Jack Herer for TONS of info on this little rich-guy trickery. Money/power games are sickening, if you ask me.
Sadly, it continues to be illegal because of greed (A politician taking money and getting votes to keep up the "Tough on Drugs" talk AND businesses scared of losing a little profit to a legitimate competitor), ignorance (So few people know that cannabis helps so many while the laws against it are harming so many), apathy ("I don't really care - what's on TV?") and fear ("If they legalize marijuana, we'll have stoned truckers plowing into school buses!" OR, "If I write to congress, police will come-a-knocking, so I won't say a word.").
It's time to get "Smart on Drugs and Punishment" (Study how Japan has lowered their crime rate by offering RESTITUTION instead of jail time, where criminals have to publicly apologize to their victims and then pay the damages), it's time to look at the benefits of cannabis and the destruction caused by our laws, it's time to care because innocent people are needlessly suffering and everyone who pays taxes is paying for it, and as for the fear, let me tell you this: Under our current 7-10 billion dollar-a-year eradication efforts, anyone who wants cannabis can get it, anytime, anywhere; you just have to ask around until you find a steady supplier or two. AND, if you are afraid to speak up for change, they have you right where they want you, and you're proving that you are not free. Get free!
Millions (No kidding) of people smoke cannabis regularly for YEARS and never run up against the law, thank God. Prohibition stops nothing, but there's a lot of money and power in it, and that's the truth.
Honesty Rules!
WARNING!!! The following may SHOCK YOU!! But I assure you, I am being honest. So honest, in fact, that as I read over this, I shock myself!! That's due to all the mental conditioning we've all paid to be put through.
The things you are about to read are TOTALLY contradictory to what we've been told by our leaders for years, so I understand your reluctance to accept the following information. Just PLEASE try, because I kid you not: Millions of DECENT people have been mentally and financially tortured by our leaders' actions - all for the love of power and money. OK. Prepare yourself with a deep breath. Thanks for coming this far!
Smoking cannabis does not turn you into a mindless zombie. Like most alcohol drinkers, most cannabis smokers take in enough to feel a nice buzz, then stop! There will always be irresponsible users of everything on the planet, but the irresponsible use of cannabis is still one of the least dangerous acts a person can do. For an in-depth description of what smoking marijuana feels like, please visit (Please copy & paste) www.cannabisconsumers.org and you'll find a page titled, "The Experience Of Getting High." For the most part, smoking cannabis leads one to a pleasantly relaxed, yet alert, state. I use it primarily for "grouch control" and I believe many, many other people could benefit greatly from the calming and reason-retaining effects of cannabis. Remember, doubters: This entire site was created while "under the influence" so stop being scared of removing cannabis laws.
More potent cannabis only means that it will take less smoke in the lungs to get users where they want to be - and knowing when to say when with weed is SO easy. People who smoke pot are not rendered helpless against date rape (Bad Guys use alcohol for that. Females, it is OUR responsibility to get drunk with only the ones we love and really, REALLY trust!) and other atrocities like those awful anti-pot commercials try to scare us into believing. It is amazing how you can feel very high, even too high, and still maintain your personal judgement and balance. Having a conversation might be difficult, because sometimes, it affects short-term memory to the point that you don't remember what you said a minute ago, but that part wears off fairly quickly. I rarely experience short-term memory loss anymore, and that's good because I don't enjoy that kind of confusion, which is why I prefer cannabis to other, legal drugs.
Maybe you're concerned about all the teens in rehabilitation programs for pot these days. It is because, in most cases, when a person is arrested for possession, he/she will get a choice: Rehab or jail? Most choose rehab. I say that if citizens of a freedom-based country are meeting their responsibilities and are not hurting ANYONE (including by stealing - it DOES hurt!), it is no one's business what they do. Period. If you see that your friend needs help because they aren't functioning, no matter what the problem, help them. It's OUR responsibility, not the government's.
Cannabis need not be smoked to do its job. It can be vaporized, which means that it is heated just enough to release its THC and cannabiniods but not enough to cause it to combust, which creates harmful smoke. Yes, any smoke causes wear 'n' tear on the ol' system.
It can also be cooked in butter and eaten (This will STINK UP your house!), which is very effective (Like the Marinol pill, care must be taken not to eat too much) and causes no harm to the body. It is remarkably safe - a DEA judge said this himself but the DEA Raiders didn't like the idea of slowing down those fun and exciting raids, so they ignored it. So, as a speaker from Hempfest once said, "Where ARE all the ruined lives caused by the use of cannabis? They are sitting in our jails and prisons," broke and broken-hearted, all because of beliefs gone mad and turned into laws. Laws WE CAN Change!! :)
I know this is a bit off subject, but it still has something to do with prohibition, since the Drug War is a government jobs program. Consider this excerpt from a column by By Jon Coupal and Richard Rider addressing some myths and truths of government pensions. This is for those of you who believe that the people working in congress are better than you:
"Fallacy #1 - Government employees are driven by some higher calling to serve the public. Their self-sacrifice should be rewarded.
The Truth - Most public employees go into government work because it pays quite well, has great job security and offers a host of generous benefits. James Buchanan won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1986 for his research demonstrating that public employees and politicians, rather than working for 'the public good,' work in their own self-interest -- just like everyone else."
Smoking cannabis and then being around children can actually improve the quality of your time together. The user feels more relaxed, more playful, and more patient. Believe it or not. You can happily read that little book over and over! Their toys are more fun and little kids love it when their parents play with them down on the floor! The increased patience (not to be confused with tolerance of bad behavior) is really valuable, especially with the "terrible two's" - I've heard this from many, many people and experienced it myself. For instance, if something arises that usually gets me upset, if I am properly medicated, I am able to stop myself from getting mad. I take a breath, and remember to talk calmly to help solve the problem, and all is well, I kid you not! Normally, I would get frustrated, lose my temper, and yell, then nothing is helped. Marijuana helps me treat my child like a human being, instead of "getting mad because he won't do what I want him to do when I want him to do it." Parents, be patient with the children - they are on-the-job trainees! Never hit kids out of anger - sure, at first it SEEMS like a good idea and that it will feel good to you, but it IS WRONG and will only get you a screaming-sad kid or worse, an injured/killed child. Hit something else - anger is real, I know. Because of my hot temper, I wouldn't dream of raising a kid without a good supply of cannabis. That's my testimony on that, and my wonderfully smart, healthy, happy, kind, well-mannered child is proof in the pudding. I thank God every day I am with my son and not CAGED in a jail cell wondering what's happening to him while I do my slave labor: What's he eating? Is the person he's with watching him well enough so he won't get kidnapped/hurt? Are they hitting my child, or worse? Seriously, that's what's happening to thousands of moms daily and that's why I'm writing this site! Thinking of the parents and children who ARE caged from each other, along with God's love, protection and guidance, keeps me GOING, and hopefully it gets YOU going, too!! If you don't like your life, God allows U-Turns!
(Before reading this, please understand that when you are driving, your first priority is keeping control over that vehicle. Some people can do things that others cannot, and that's how it is.) After becoming used to how cannabis makes you feel, it can make a person a more careful driver. A person who has smoked enough pot to feel drowsy is AWARE of his impairment and is able to think, "I think I'll just wait for a while." With a little pot and experience, you become ONE with the road and fellow drivers. Road rage just doesn't happen. You don't mind stopping fully for that stop sign, or stopping for that yellow light, or driving the speed limit (Conservative driving saves gas/oil). Long road trips become a pleasure. Amazingly, if a situation arises where defensive driving might come in handy, the responsible cannabis consumer can "sober up" in an instant, ready for action if needed, no lie! It's called the adrenalin-induced buzzkill. Hey - I'm just telling the truth, here. Missing exits and getting lost are the biggest risks I've experienced, but I still enjoy a "Oh, it'll be OK" attitude.
My driving motto is, "If you don't want a ticket, don't tempt a cop." This will save you money, keeping it from the state! It's worked for me for the past decade or so. Getting pulled over by a bully cop so totally sux. We know, somewhere deep inside, that we REALLY don't need this cop to be bothering us, and if he's a bad cop, there will be nothing we can do about it, except for reporting him/her to PoliceAbuse.org (Please copy & paste) - GREAT SITE!! They show bad cops caught on tape and take the steps to get things FIXED! Good cops out there - God Bless You all!
There is one thing to be aware of: Smoking cannabis can sometimes cause panic attacks (I've had two in 10 years of use), and that's not a good feeling when trying to drive. (And please don't drive when you're drowsy/angry/upset/staggering drunk, either - it's all the same and it kills innocent people ALL THE TIME.) If you have smoked marijuana and then you drive and you feel a panic attack coming on, just breathe deeply, keep telling yourself it's all OK and it will pass in about a minute. Concentrate on your driving, pull over if you can and relax. That's it, take it easy.....
*****Please drive as carefully as you can at all times; so many people are killed and maimed just by driving a car incorrectly or walking/riding a bike by roads. I was hit while walking beside a road in 1999 - it can happen so easily. My foot and hand were crushed, and if it weren't for that angel who told me to put my helmet on (I was pushing my broken-down motorcycle and I usually just hang the helmet on the mirror), I would not be here today, that is that. How I can even walk and write this website is a miracle, and I thank God every day. PLUS, Cannabis helped my healing process GREATLY. It helped with the pain so I needed fewer prescription pills, it really helped me relax and pass the time I had to pass while injured, and it kept my spirits up which helps the body heal - it's true! I hope and pray that a cannabis regimine will be standard procedure for any patient who would benefit from this amazing herb!
Cannabis does not MAKE you stupid and lazy. Yes, it can HELP you be lazy (very relaxed), if that's what you want/need, but it can also increase your energy when you want to work. Sounds contradictory, I know, but it IS an amazing plant: You can work with it, learn with it, relax with it AND party with it! No lie! There are different strains for different needs! Thank You, Lord, for such a wonderful plant!
Under the influence of cannabis, a person actually thinks more deeply, which is something we should all do more often, and it's why many people LOOK like zombies when under the influence of cannabis - they are in deep thought. But the problem can be that a person's mind can wander off to new, interesting ways of looking at things when his/her mind should be elsewhere. It is truly amazing how differently the mind works when cannabinoids hit the receptors in our brains! (Yes, we have cannabinoid receptors in our brains!) The person feels more at peace, more relaxed and able to think about things in a more positive light (Not to be confused with "running away from your problems"). Retrospective thinking kicks in and it can put things in proper perspective. For instance, it helped me conclude that we don't need fancy things like expensive decorations for the house. That conclusion is Great for my family's finances, but Bad for big business. Hmmm, which one do I care more about????? If you are sick of rich CEO's, stop buying their CRAP!
Cannabis can subdue a bad temper, anxiety and mild depression, making a person more functional and productive (And nicer to be around). Personally, this is why I find this plant so valuable. Ten years of use and where are all the health/mental problems they said I'd have? No, I can honestly say that marijuana has IMPROVED my life, or I wouldn't be sharing all of this. The worst experience I have with marijuana is worrying about do-gooders turning me into the cops and taking my son away or just plain giving my family a hard time. I still can't believe our own government actually treats regular people this way "because they can", and I hate that I've learned that about our government by doing all this research. But, more research has led me to this fact: It's not just America, it's every country. It's just plain old greed and power-lust, old as time.
Marijuana makes routine jobs enjoyable, like doing the dishes, cleaning the house, raking the lawn, etc. It's especially good for when you want to do detail work, because cannabis helps get you into a "working zone" and when you're happier about what you're doing, you usually do better work. It is not as helpful for heavy reading or doing math, in my opinion. Nothing is perfect.
The munchies can make a person overeat, but if a person already has self-discipline, this is not a problem. I've lost 20 lbs recently from the pregnancy (Feels GREAT!). The munchies are extremely valuable to those suffering from anorexia (The true definition of anorexia is simply, "loss of appetite") due to chemotherapy, old age, AIDS, and many other reasons. THC's antiemetic properties (Anti-nausea/vomiting) are also helpful to those unable to keep their food and swallowed medicine down.
Cannabis has not affected my memory in the least. In fact, by worrying about the "Brainless pot-head" label, I worked hard to remember everything I could, which led me to the discovery that when you work at your memory, it gets better, just like anything else. Here is a good tip for anyone: When you put an object down for a second, like keys, glasses or a book, think to yourself, "I put this HERE." Just quickly make that mental note, and when you are looking for the object, chances are, it will more easily pop into your mind. Try it, it works! Credit for this idea goes to my MOM - HI, MOM!!!! She's the one who taught me to watch out for the "normalized" abuse of power - THANKS, MOM!
Cannabis can HELP people get off and keep off addictive drugs. Copy and paste this to your browser for a good study on this subject: http://www.fcda.org/steppingoff.htm
Point blank: All the horrors that are used to scare people from using cannabis are what you get from using too much alcohol. Mixing the two, or mixing any two drugs, can have you in real trouble, so the bottom line for ANY activity is: Learn the facts as well as you can, hang out with decent people whom you trust, then be responsible for what you do to your body and other people's bodies/property. You'll have more peace in your life - guaranteed.
And Trust Jesus, He really does love you - He even loves total screw-ups like ME! It's so amazing, I simply MUST share it again and again!
If you honestly believe Cannabis Prohibition is doing our country a good service, I and millions of others like me IMPLORE you to begin your own research on our marijuana laws. Begin by doing searches with questions like, "When/why was cannabis first made illegal?" or "What is cannabis/hemp?" and begin to see for yourself. You will be glad you did, even though it will also make you mad if you have a heart.
Any questions? Is anything here incorrect? I'd love/need to know. (Please copy & paste) mmelz5@yahoo.com. Much Thanks to ALL who help shape this page up!! TRUTH RULES!
A Piece of the Author's Mind
The Constitution was written by men who grew up under a tyrannical government but they worked their knickers off to break free. They also understood how it is Human Nature to want to gain and grow power and riches at the expense of other people, so they gave boundaries to the government they just BRAVELY created.
I believe that people started letting the government take care of things without their involvement, and naturally, Congress fell to the temptation of growing bigger at our expense. If nothing is done and government jobs continue to increase, our children will be paying 1/2 their incomes to keep many a bureaucrat employed, as it is in many countries. Have you ever thought about what we're GETTING for all the taxes we pay? (Personally, I think most of the money from auto license fees goes to the paychecks of the clerks and their bosses, but that's just me. Having a driver's license doesn't mean you're any better of a driver, it just means you have to pay a fee.)
So get to know the Constitution of America (Visit www.constitutionpreservation.org), and as you read it, notice that you will not see where government has the power to "protect people from themselves". It is a common misunderstanding that we have the right to be free of the threat of a dangerous person/druggie/drunk. We do not have that right, but we and our family do have the right to press charges on the person who - for whatever reason - stops paying attention to their driving, loses control of their car and hits our own, for example and God forbid. In order for there to be a crime, there must be a victim. Otherwise, we are in no free country.
The Constitution is, to me, America's Rulebook. Too many of our leaders aren't playing by the rules anymore, they're playing on our fears. Why? Because if they told the truth about marijuana, budgets would be slashed from the Prison Industry and Drug Enforcement Agency to name only two. Thousands of *real people* would have to get another job, so they do NOT want current policies to change. Sad but true. So, they spend our money to lie to us and keep us scared of marijuana users so things will keep going their way - and they don't care who they have to hurt to keep it going, either. As long as there are people who choose to use something other than alcohol for fun, or something other than prescription drugs in order to function - people who are better known as "Stupid druggies sucking the life out of America" - certain government employees will make their livings off the needless suffering of others and call it service. It's downright shameful and that's why I wrote all this up and I am asking you to LOOK at this crooked policy, SEE who's being harmed by it, and DEMAND its repeal. I am not a criminal and there are MILLIONS just like me!!!
